We’re thrilled at what has been achieved since the Wānaka Water Project contracts were signed with the Ministry for the Environment in June 2018.

WAI Wānaka is keen to connect with people living locally with a background or particular interest in freshwater management and willing to get involved with the Wānaka Water Project.

As part of the Wanaka Water Project – and in conjunction with local residents, community groups, business owners, iwi, visitors, farmers, scientists, ORC and QLDC – we developed a comprehensive Community Catchment Plan (CCP) to safeguard water quality and ecosystem function in an integrated way across the whole Upper Clutha catchment.

Alpine Lakes Research and Education Centre (ALREC) is a living laboratory – a place where entrepreneurship and innovation will chart the course for Upper Clutha’s future.

We facilitate action, ideas, conversation and research, designed to advance our environment and understanding of Alpine Lakes ecology.
